MINI CLUBMAN

This 1.6 Cooper Clubman came in after having a comprehensive check over by Autoworks in Swindon that identified several issues. It is such a high specification that we have treated it as a fun project and gone through each item needed and are having the repairs done. It will be a great buy for someone.

So let's start with the car itself. Finished in metallic black with a silver roof, the bodywork is pretty good for the age. There are a few small dents but nothing excessive. The car sits on 17 inch 5 spoke wheels with good tyres all round. We have had a smart repair to a small scuff on the rear bumper.

Moving to the inside and this is a high specification version with Chilli pack, along with full leather interior trim; multi-function steering wheel; seat heating; and climate control.

Now to the latest work - the car has already had a new pre-cat oxygen sensor; new front brake calliper and new pads following the report from Autoworks and now drives really well. We also had the AC re-gassed as it was not great - it now blows super cold when needed.

However, it was also identified by them as possibly needing new valve stem seals allowing some small puffs of blue smoke, and an oil leak from the rocker cover gasket. It is a pretty large task to get to the stem seals, so it is worth taking the opportunity to fit a new timing chain kit at the same time; water pump; and a new rocker cover gasket to resolve the oil leak as part of the work; and of course it would need new coolant.

That work will make this possibly one of the most mechanically sound Minis you will find anywhere near this price with the major timing chain risk taken away, and not one to be missed. It will also be supplied with a 6 month warranty for extra peace of mind.

HOWEVER - it drives brilliantly now before any of that work with no fault codes and just a small puff of blue smoke on overrun (valve stem seals), so if someone wants the car as it is, the price would be £1795 still with new filters and a new rocker cover gasket to solve the small oil leak.
