So when was the last time you saw one of these?
The GSi Zafira was a competent people carrier, and also a fast sporting car. The Vauxhall TV advert was memorable using the tune 'Daddy Cool' which summed it up perfectly.
The car we have is finished in silver, and the bodywork is in fantastic condition for its age, and helped by the low mileage of only 88,000 miles. We have had the bodykit resprayed as there were numerous chips and some damage outlined below, which is perhaps why it presents so well now. But it was worth the investment.
It has the original 'snowflake' alloys which do carry some small scuffing but nothing too major, and easy to have refinished like new.
The interior has the wonderfully supportive genuine Recaro sports seats in the front, finished in cloth and half leather, the trim extending to the full 7 seats. All of it is in excellent condition with no rips or tears, and minimal wear even on the drivers seat bolster.
It still retains the original Vauxhall CD player, and is just a very original, and unmolested example.
The 7 seat arrangement offered a stunning array of options and flexibility, and it remains one of the most practical of family cars.
The car has recently had new rear discs and pads, and new front drop links - common failure items - so drives really well. It has also had a new rocker cover fitted to rectify a small oil leak along with a new coil pipe. The engine pulls wonderfully with no problems with the turbo, and is a wonderful power plant.
Coming to the 'bad' bits - the GSi badge is missing from the rear and they are extremely difficult to source now; the tyres are not the best in terms of quality so we have replaced the front 2 - the remaining two showing excellent tread but just lower quality variants; and the steering wheel thumb press for the horn has split. The headlining has some bubbling - probably can be solved with a little gentle steaming. One rear window motor is not working.
The car was declared a Category N Insurance loss back in 2020 - no structural damage and repairable - insurer decided not to repair. It had suffered damage to the front and rear bumpers, which no doubt at main dealer prices was uneconomical, but this has all been repaired to get the car in the condition it is today.
Remember when fast Fords and Fast Vauxhalls were everyday cars? And how you wish you still had them now as they have shot up in value? Well this is perhaps one to keep for the future as good ones are extremely hard to find.
